A salute to the fallen


Hungerford Commemorative Weekend
29th – 30th June 2024

Two-day immersive event with concurrent activities to commemorate, inform and celebrate the vital contribution that the area made in the build up to, and launch of the largest invasion in history and the subsequent turning point in WW2.

The objectives are to Salute the Fallen; to raise money for charities and to welcome the community and visitors to this unique historic occasion.

Saturday 29th June

  • Town centre-focused activities and historical presentations.
  • Military Wives Choir and street entertainers
  • High Street route lining and static classic/military vehicles.
  • RBL Armed Force Day Parade
  • D-Day Commemorative military vehicle convoy drive through the town to the Triangle Field show site
  • Military encampment set up on Triangle field with convoy and additional displays.
  • Veterans parade with band from Corn Exchange to Common to unveil a commemorative stone and information plaque. Wreath laying (1800 hrs)
  • Aircraft flyover of commemoration stone

Sunday 30th June (10am to 4pm)

  • Triangle Field focused with additional town centre activities
  • Living History re-enactors, static and other displays
  • Age-appropriate classic vehicles.
  • Entertainment
  • Aircraft flypasts – weather and tasking permitting
  • Many more displays etc to be added once confirmed
